About Us
We are a group of Black doulas who came together, seeking community in a homogenous doula environment.
We created the OBDS as a way to expand our community, to validate our experiences, and to amplify Black voices.

Vision
We look forward to seeing health systems rooted in anti-racism and deep community care.
We intend to support doulas who work toward equity and anti-racism as they fill the gaps in healthcare that lead to significant disparities in Black communities.
-
Mission
Our goal is to expand the understanding of what a doula does; To change the way we doula.
We aim to:
Create awareness about the need for and value of doula care that is culturally competent.
Raise awareness about Black maternal health disparities
Support as many culturally & structurally competent doulas as possible and promote their practices.
